Choosing between these tools
Most image work is quantity, not craft: a photo is four megabytes and the form accepts two, or a header needs to be exactly 1200 pixels wide. Opening an editor for that is overkill, and uploading a holiday photo to an unknown server to save two megabytes is a poor bargain. These tools do the mechanical part in the tab you already have open.
Compression is a trade you should be able to see. JPEG and WebP quality settings are not percentages of anything meaningful, so the useful question is what the file looks like at a given size — which is why the tools show the before and after together rather than only reporting a percentage saved.
Two things routinely surprise people. Photographs taken on a phone carry an orientation flag, and software that ignores it turns portrait shots sideways; these tools read it. And transparency does not survive a move to JPEG — a transparent background becomes black. Where that is about to happen you get told first, with WebP offered instead.
